MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WCIV/WPDE) — A couple, charged with kidnapping on Sunday in connection with the disappearance of Heather Elvis,have now been charged with murder.

According to WPDE, the ABC affiliate in Myrtle Beach, Chief Rhodes with Horry County Police announced the charges at a press conference held Monday morning. Chief Rhodes said Sidney and Tammy Moorer will be charged with Murder in the Heather Elvis case.

Rhodes said that evidence found in the Moorer’s home led to the charges, even though a body has not been found.

Tammy Moorer, 41, and her husband, Sidney Moorer, 38, are also each charged with two counts of indecent exposure and one count of obstruction of justice.

Two people are in custody in connection with the disappearance of 20-year-old South Carolina woman Heather Elvis, Horry County Police officials confirmed to FoxNews.com.

Elvis, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., was last heard from in the early morning hours of Dec. 18, after the young woman went on a date. Her 2001 Dodge Intrepid was found abandoned the next day on the Peachtree Boat Landing in Socastee, Horry County.

“I have been in contact with the family,” Haley said. “I have been in contact with [South Carolina Law Enforcement Division] during the entire investigation, as well as with the police department here on the ground. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, and we’re going to do everything we can to help this family find their daughter.”
