Rain dampened Ride for Missing Children, but hundreds still turned out

UPDATE 11 a.m.>> Event organizers are saying that The Ride for Missing Children is ending early due to rain. The riders are starting to head to the New Hartford Recreation Center and are expected to be there by noon. Event organizers say that the ride got as far as the first stop in Rome at Bellamy Elementary where they were to eat breakfast with students, when rain started to come down heavier, making roads less safe. However, the riders are still slowly riding their bicycles to New Hartford instead of being bused.

ONEIDA>>A little under 500 riders left the New York State Police Troop D headquarters around 8 a.m. Friday, May 16, setting off the 18th annual Ride for Missing Children in the Mohawk Valley.
