Police find bodies of missing girl, grandmother in Shenandoah Nat’l Park | The News Virginian

The bodies of a Harrisonburg woman and her 12-year-old granddaughter were found in Shenandoah National Park on Thursday after the man accused of abducting them last month agreed to lead police to their bodies.

In exchange, prosecutors agreed not to seek the death penalty against Hareton Jaime Rodriguez-Sariol, who was a police officer in Cuba before immigrating to the U.S. As part of the plea deal, Rodriguez-Sariol also agreed to plead guilty to two counts of first-degree murder. He will spend at least 20 years in prison on each count.
