How that determination was made was called into question this week when investigators revealed that human remains found in a park in southern Chula Vista in January were those of the Lemon Grove girl. She had been killed.

ST. MARTIN — A St. Martin teen, considered missing earlier this week, has returned home safe.

Wednesday morning, Becca Anderson left for school in her 2007 BMW 328i. A few hours later, St. Martin High School contacted her mother, Valorie Anderson, telling her that Becca never made it to school.

JACKSON COUNTY — Authorities are searching for a missing 16-year-old St. Martin High School softball player.

Capt. Bruce Nevels with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department said Rebecca Anderson was reported missing Wednesday morning. He said she left for school about 7:25 a.m. in her black 2007 BMW 328i — with the license plate “PITCH17” — and never arrived. Her mother, Valorie Anderson, said her phone had been taken away on Tuesday and was kept at her home when she left for school.
