Volunteers build smartphone app to find missing children | KMSP

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. (KMSP) – Volunteers in Minnesota have been working long hours to building a smartphone app that aims to be a 21st century solution to an age old problem – finding missing children.

Once the app is complete, parents and police will be able to easily access critical information should their child or loved one go mission. This otherwise pricey process is made possible thanks volunteers that are more than happy to bring one woman’s vision to life.

CA – Sheriff’s Department hosting missing person day Saturday

SAN BERNARDINO >> On average, more than 1,600 people are reported missing each year in San Bernardino County.

On Saturday, sheriff’s officials are holding its first-ever Missing Persons Day, allowing family and friends of the missing to talk to investigators, bring photos and supply DNA samples to hopefully identify their loved ones.

Coroner’s officials here have more than 600 unidentified person cases they’re trying to solve.

Family, friends of missing persons to gather at University of Michigan-Flint | MLive.com

FLINT, MI — Families and friends affected by the disappearance of someone close to them have been invited to take part in a Missing Persons Day 2014 event at the University of Michigan-Flint.

The event, sponsored by Michigan State Police and other law enforcement agencies, is set for 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, May 17 at the Harding Mott University Center building, 400 Mill St, with a portion of the event to recognize the missing and their families.
