A visibly shaken La Porte City police chief Thursday announced that human remains have been found in Wolf Creek downstream from La Porte City.

Officials stopped short of saying the remains were those of missing teenager Jake Wilson, 15, who has been missing for more than four months.

Police: Search for missing La Porte City teen moving beyond Wolf Creek | KCRG

LA PORTE CITY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) — The La Porte City Police Chief said the search for a missing teen is moving to other areas after crews completed the search at Wolf Creek.

16-year-old Jake Wilson, who is on the autism spectrum, was last seen the night of April 7 when he left to walk to Wolf Creek. That triggered a massive volunteer search effort with hundreds of people scouring several miles around the creek with no sign of Wilson or foul play.

LA PORTE CITY — Authorities are planning another surge this weekend in the search for an autistic La Porte City teen who last was seen April 7.

Jake Wilson, 16, disappeared after telling family members he was going to nearby Wolf Creek.

“The search is still very much alive, and we still have our optimism that we are going to find him,” Police Chief Chris Brecher said Tuesday. “We are not done by any means. We are going to be back in the water on Saturday and Sunday.”

Search ramped up for missing autistic teen in La Porte City | RADIO IOWA

It’s now been nearly two weeks since a teenager with autism disappeared in northeast Iowa. Police have found no sign of 16-year-old Jake Wilson, who left his home in La Porte City on the evening of April 7 for a walk to a nearby creek.

Black Hawk County Sheriff Tony Thompson told reporters Friday afternoon that investigators still believe Jake made it to the creek and “something bad happened” when he got there.

LaPORTE CITY — A search for an autistic teen who disappeared in LaPorte City continued Sunday through driving snowfall.

Barring any overnight developments, the search for 16-year-old Jake Wilson is slated to resume at 8 a.m. Monday. Those wishing to volunteer can report to the city’s fire department at that time, said Police Chief Chris Brecher.
