Search for missing San Diego woman turns up remains near Joshua Tree National Park | Los Angeles Times

A search for the body of a San Diego woman who is thought to have been killed and buried in the desert turned up human remains Friday in the “Cactus City” area south of Joshua Tree National Park, authorities said.

The remains, suspected to be that of Julia Jacobson and her dog, Boogie, were found in a shallow grave near the 10 Freeway and Box Canyon Road, the Ontario Police Department said.

A candlelight vigil is planned for tonight to keep up hope that a woman who grew up in Spearfish and is now missing in California will soon be found safe.

The vigil for Julia Jacobson is planned for today from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Indian Springs Gazebo at 222 W. Dakota St. in Spearfish. It is one of four simultaneous vigils being held at locations where Jacobson has connections to friends and family, including in Bismarck, N.D., where her family lives, and in San Diego, where she went missing.

an Diego police are asking for the public’s help to find a San Diego woman who left her home on Saturday and has not been seen since.

Julia Jacobson, 37, was last seen at a 7-Eleven on Aero Drive Saturday morning about 6:30 a.m. and she was last heard from later the same day about 9:30 p.m. when she texted a friend and said she was in the Palm Springs area, according to friends and San Diego police.
