As a new school year begins today in Richmond County, a campaign is underway to make sure a former student missing since April is not forgotten.

Rocks for Janell gives those affected by the story of LaTania Janell Carwell the opportunity to decorate rocks with thoughtful messages and disperse them throughout the Augusta area.

Local group raises awareness for missing Augusta teen | WAGA

ATLANTA – A local organization is stepping in to spread awareness for missing children and they’re hoping to bring Georgia kids home safe.

Peas In Their Pod held an event in downtown Atlanta Saturday for 16-year-old LaTania Janell Carwell, who is from Augusta and has been missing since April. Carwell was last seen on April 17 with her stepfather, Leon Lamar Tripp, who has since been arrested, according to a missing person flyer.

Missing Augusta teen appears to have led quiet life | WJBF-TV

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WJBF) – NewsChannel 6 has been committed to learning more about LaTania Carwell in hopes of helping in the search for the 16-year-old. It was mid-April the last time anyone saw Carwell. Richmond County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation six weeks ago into the teen’s disappearance.
