America’s Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response, or AMBER Alert, was created in 1996 as a response for local police to find abducted children, according to U.S. Department of Justice.

The alert system, later named Amber, was created after Amber Hagerman, 9, was kidnapped while riding her bike in Arlington, Texas and later murdered.

Florida Missing Child Alert issued for Gilchrist County teen Brandon Geiger canceled

GILCHRIST COUNTY, Fla. — Officials were searching for a 17-year-old boy who was reported missing in the Gilchrist County area.

A Florida Missing Child Alert was issued for Brandon Geiger, who is from Trenton, Tuesday just after noon. FDLE canceled the alert around around 12 a.m.
