Search for missing Nipomo man to take place across SLO County | KSBY.com

Searchers will head out Thursday across San Luis Obispo County to look for a Nipomo man who hasn’t been heard or seen from since the beginning of the week.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office says Saul Tiznado, Jr. was entered into the Missing and Unidentified Persons Unit of the California Department of Justice after receiving the missing person’s report Tuesday afternoon. The sheriff’s detective unit is assigned to the case.

CA – Authorities ask for help finding missing at-risk Avila man | The Tribune

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help finding an at-risk man from Avila Beach who went missing over the weekend.

James Ross Calder, 40, was reported missing on Sunday evening, according to a news release from the agency. Neighbors told authorities they hadn’t seen him since Jan. 19 and became concerned when Calder left his dog outside his apartment.

Santa Maria police see huge decrease in number of missing person – KSBY.com

In November 2015, a KSBY investigation found the Santa Maria Police Department had a staggering 155 unsolved missing persons cases, the highest number of such cases of any law enforcement agency in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.

Now, Police Chief Ralph Martin says those numbers have dropped significantly, to fewer than 100.

“A number of people have come forward and told us that either the missing person was found and returned home, might be incarcerated, or living in a different state,” Martin said.

Crews search for missing man Rafael Gonzalez

San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office search-and-rescue teams checked the Nipomo Mesa area Saturday for a 65-year-old man who was reported missing Nov. 3.

Rafael Chavez Gonzalez reportedly was last seen around Oct. 21, on a family member’s property in the 2400 block of Willow Road on the Nipomo Mesa, sheriff’s Sgt. Tony Perry said Saturday.
