RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – More than 700,000 children go missing in the United States each year.

That’s equivalent to a child going missing every 40 seconds. Thankfully, most are successfully returned home, but there are others who disappear. Some get widespread attention, while may vanish without many taking notice.

The turning point in the search for missing children came decades ago, when Adam Walsh disappeared from a Florida department store in 1981. He was later found murdered, but his death inspired change.

3 missing Ethiopian athletes found in Beaverton | kgw.com Portland

EUGENE, Ore. — Three of the four Ethiopian track athletes who vanished after Saturday’s World Junior Championships in Eugene have been found safe, authorities said.

The three women and a 17-year-old man were reported missing last weekend, as first reported by The Eugene Register-Guard.

Atibeha, Amanuel Abebe Atibeha, 17; Dureti Edao, 18; and Meaza Kebede, 18, were “safe, unharmed, and staying with acquaintances,” Monday, according to Kelly McIver, Communications Director with the University of Oregon Police Department.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office is searching for Paul Michael Brisson, 16, of DeFuniak Springs.

Brisson was last seen by his grandmother on Friday morning.

He left home wearing gray shorts and a black shirt.

The Oregon State Police (OSP) continues to ask for the public’s help to locate a missing, possibly endangered 51-year old Springfield man last seen March 8, 2014 at the Gateway Transit Center in Portland.

On April 21, 2014, the mother of RANDEL JON BROWN, age 51, contacted OSP Klamath Falls detectives to report her son had been missing since March 8. According to other family members and contacts, BROWN was in Portland with his wife who had checked into a hospital. An uncle reportedly rented BROWN a room for two nights at a Portland-area motel in the 3800 block of North Interstate Avenue.

DANVILLE, AR – The Yell County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) has revealed in an afternoon news conference that the truck belonging to a missing Greenwood man has been found off a forest road and search dogs are on the way to the scene.

Authorities have been looking for Brian Alan Floyd, 33, and his 10-month-old son Harper Alexander Floyd who haven’t been seen since Friday. There were searches all weekend in the area of Blue Mountain Lake in the Ouachita Mountains.

PHOENIX — Police are looking for a woman missing in north Phoenix who left her home on Saturday and has not been seen since, according to a Phoenix Police Department release.

74-year-old Mary Glen left her home near 4300 East Sheena Drive at approximately 4 p.m. on July 26. She is believed to have driven off in a 2000, white Nissan Frontier. Glen is believed to be suffering from the early stages of dementia.
